The Origins of the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences: A Personal MemoirStanford University This article presents a historical account of the founding of the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Sciences (HJBS). Planning for the journal began in 1978, and the first issue appeared in 1979. Six important decisions (e.g., what to name the journal, should the journal be in Spanish and English, and so forth) that had to be made prior to the appearance of the first issue are discussed here. The HJBS is now in its 25th year of publication, and decisions made early on have withstood the test of time.
